Puzzle book checklist before you publish on KDP
Fixing a mistake after publishing means uploading a new file and waiting for review again, and readers may already have seen the problem. Go through this list once before you upload.
The file
Your PDF's page size matches the trim size you chose in KDP. The page count is at least 24 and within KDP's maximum for your trim and paper. The PDF opens without errors, and the page count in the file matches the number the tool showed.
The pages
Nothing is cut off or crowded against the edges. The page numbers are on the puzzle and solution pages. The title, subtitle, and author name on the title page match exactly what you type into KDP. The copyright page has the correct year and name.
The puzzles
Look at a few puzzles at full size and make sure the numbers and letters are easy to read when printed. Check that puzzle numbers run in order and that each solution matches its puzzle. For word searches, read every word list once for spelling.
In KDP
Upload the file as your paperback manuscript and open the previewer. It shows warnings for anything outside the margins. Page through the whole book in the previewer, not only the first pages. Order a printed proof copy if you can; seeing the real book is the best final check.
Keep your settings
In the puzzle book maker, save your project and download a copy. With the same seed and settings you can rebuild the exact same book later, for example to fix a typo on the title page without changing any puzzles.
